Nordic Marine Power Launches First Pilot

Nordic Marine Power Launches First Pilot: Supplying Battery Systems to Hybrid Fishing Vessel "Helena"

Nordic Marine Power is proud to announce the launch of its first pilot project, marking a major milestone in our mission to accelerate maritime decarbonization. We will deliver two advanced marine battery systems—each with a capacity of 115 kWh—for the hybrid upgrade of the fishing vessel Helena, owned by Slottet Fiskebåtrederi.

This project demonstrates the safety, scalability, and performance of our PowerStack battery system in real-world coastal operations.

Project Overview

  • Total Energy Delivered: 2 x 115 kWh (230 kWh total)

  • System Type: Hybrid propulsion

  • Delivery Partner: Selfa Arctic AS (responsible for system integration and vessel upgrade)

  • Vessel: Helena – a 35-foot multipurpose fishing vessel operating in Northern Norway

Why It Matters

This delivery is the first commercial deployment of Nordic Marine Power’s technology. The PowerStack system offers robust safety features, modular design, and optimal energy density—designed specifically for harsh marine environments and DNV compliance.

By electrifying vessels like Helena, we help reduce fuel consumption, emissions, and noise—while improving operational efficiency and enabling future-proof compliance with upcoming regulations.

Looking Ahead

The batteries will be delivered this summer, with installation and commissioning handled by Selfa Arctic AS. This pilot sets the stage for broader rollout across coastal and commercial vessels in the coming year.

We look forward to sharing results from this reference project—and continuing our mission to power the maritime sector with clean, reliable energy.
